Academic Job Search Links

National and International Jobs

MLA Job List (JIL) The most comprehensive site for English faculty positions. Positions for the following academic year are first published on the MLA job list in mid-September.

Chronicle of Higher Education job listings The Chronicle will have a few listings that do not appear in the MLA list. Cross-listed jobs may appear in the Chronicle before they appear in the MLA list, or vice versa. Sometimes the Chronicle is stronger in international jobs.

The Association of Writers and Writer Programs
MFAs will find more useful job resources here (although many creative writing jobs are also posted in the MLA Job List and on other job sites). Job seekers can browse for different kinds of jobs by region (including nonacademic jobs) or they can search creative writing jobs by genre and type.

Council of Writing Program Administrators Job Board
The Council of Writing Program Administrators’ job board lists many positions for candidates with interests in composition and rhetoric or Writing Center administration.

Academic Keys for the Humanities
Academic Keys publishes many of the same positions listed on the previous two sites. However, it also contains many international jobs that are not published elsewhere. You can sign up for e-mail alerts.

Association of Canadian College and University Teachers of English Job List
