The following writing, research, travel, and teaching awards are given annually by the Department of English to graduate students. See email announcements for deadlines. Recent winners.

• Gesell Awards for Excellence in Poetry, Fiction, and Literary Non-fiction. One award in each category.
• Gesell Summer Writing Fellowship at the Anderson Center
• Marcella DeBourg Fellowship
• O'Rourke Travel Fellowship for Creative Writers
• Samuel Holt Monk Prize for the Best Article by a Graduate Student. Samuel Monk was a distinguished professor of eighteenth-century literature and aesthetics.
• Audrey Christensen Library Acquisition Prize. Book fund to support creation of a scholarly library.
• Samuel Holt Monk-Moses Marston Summer Research Award. Funds for summer research travel expenses.
• Graduate Research Partnership Program
• Awards for Excellence in Teaching. Teaching Assistants are nominated by their students.
